The Utah Jazz "Bear" Shadowing Internship

Hands-on experience
Waldo vs Jazz Bear
The court we played in.
My summer internship with the Utah Jazz "Bear" Shadowing Program was a pivotal experience that bridged the gap between college enthusiasm and professional sports entertainment. During my time in Salt Lake City, I moved beyond standard crowd interactions to master the complex logistics of arena management, including strict prop safety protocols and precise game-time scheduling. I gained critical skills in non-verbal communication and crowd psychology, learning how to analyze and increase audience energy levels to maximize engagement during high-stakes moments. This high-pressure environment taught me that professional mascot work is as much about strategic operations and physical endurance as it is about entertainment. As I look toward a career in professional sports management, this experience has provided me with the tangible operational discipline and industry connections necessary to succeed at the NBA level. Ultimately, working alongside a league legend confirmed that my passion for performance can translate into a serious and sustainable career path.
Dance Choreography

Dance Class
Weber Dance Team
Choreography challenged me to think about movement in a more intentional and structured way. I learned how to design choreography that responds to space, timing, and the unique strengths of each dancer, strengthening my creative problem-solving and leadership skills. Working with performers of different backgrounds required clear communication, effective collaboration, and networking, as I connected with peers and mentors to exchange ideas and gain feedback. I plan to use these networking skills in the future by maintaining these professional relationships, seeking collaboration opportunities, and drawing on the insights of others to enhance my creative and leadership work. Overall, this experience deepened my understanding of how thoughtful design choices can transform movement into meaningful performance and reinforced my ability to guide, mentor, and connect with others in a team setting.
Physical Fitness
As part of my personal wellness journey, I documented my physical fitness progress through assessments and conducted a nutritional analysis, applying wellness principles in a structured and intentional way. Physical fitness activities helped me understand the importance of consistency, goal-setting, and self-discipline in maintaining overall health. Analyzing my dietary habits allowed me to make informed choices that support physical performance and well-being. This experience helped me to identify my strengths and areas to grow, turning insights into actions that support my personal and career development. Throughout this process, I actively collaborated with supervisors and peers, seeking guidance, sharing insights, and exchanging feedback. These interactions have strengthened my professional network and established relationships that I will draw on for mentorship, collaboration, and future health and fitness initiatives.
Emergency Response
Critical Care Transport Training
During my emergency training, I engaged in hands-on practice that simulated high-pressure medical and trauma scenarios, strengthening my ability to make quick, accurate decisions while staying calm and focused. Collaborating closely with instructors and fellow trainees provided valuable networking opportunities, allowing me to exchange insights, observe different approaches, and build professional connections that will support my future career. The training challenged me to improve skills such as time management, prioritization, and adaptability under stress, while applying feedback to set concrete development goals. By repeatedly practicing these scenarios, I gained the confidence and practical experience necessary to assess real patients effectively, preparing me to respond accurately and efficiently in actual emergency situations.
Building on the skills developed during training, I conducted over 100 patient assessments in real emergency situations, including both medical and trauma cases. This experience challenged me to accurately evaluate vital signs, identify urgent conditions, and make rapid, informed decisions under pressure. Observing experienced responders during these assessments provided insight into advanced clinical judgment, patient prioritization, and practical problem-solving. Engaging with these professionals allowed me to expand my network in a real-world context, gaining mentorship and advice that will inform my approach to patient care in the future. Applying my training in these scenarios strengthened my confidence and competence, demonstrating how practical experience combined with exposure to expert practice prepares me to respond effectively in critical situations.
Creation Of Resume Guide
Does Your Resume Look Like This?
In this project, I created a comprehensive resume guide to help Weber State University students present their skills and experiences effectively. This challenged me to clearly organize information and anticipate the needs of different audiences, strengthening my professional communication and guidance skills. A key strength I developed was my ability to provide practical, encouraging advice, while a challenge I worked on was ensuring the guide was clear and accessible for students with diverse experiences. Collaborating with peers and receiving feedback from faculty provided valuable networking opportunities and reinforced the importance of collaboration. By helping students showcase their strengths, I contributed to building confidence within the community.
